Features Lumbee artist Karen Coronado, whose one-woman exhibition, “The Spiral Dance,” is on display at Pembroke State University's Native American Resource Center.  Coronado's style is contemporary, and the exhibition - dominated by the theme of the spiral - includes works in leather and bone; painted gourds; and paintings in oil and acrylic.  The exhibition has drawn much attention and has been well received.  Coronado states that viewers sometimes don't recognize contemporary art as being Native American or reflecting Native American identity.
