The 14th annual “Strike at the Wind!” benefit dinner was attended by about 250 people. The dinner raised $57,000 for Robeson Historical Drama, Inc., which oversees the outdoor drama. A painting by Lumbee artist Gene Locklear, “I Hope We've Made a Difference,” was auctioned for $18,000. “Strike at the Wind!” closed in 1995 due to poor attendance but has since reopened. Robeson Historical Drama, Inc. conducted a feasibility study which showed that the drama must attract a broader audience to survive.
