Smith Reynolds Foundation and the North Carolina Writer's Network, consisted of workshops, led by Barbara Braveboy-Locklear, in which Native American women from various tribes, generations, and cultural and educational backgrounds wrote about issues important to them. Each participant was expected to write one essay, one short story, one oral history, and three original poems.
