Walt Wolfram, William C. Friday Distinguished Professor of English at North Carolina State University, has been studying Lumbee language since 1993.  He and his research team, which includes Clare Dannenberg and Natalie Schilling-Estes, have completed a number of projects, including (with Hayes Alan Locklear) A dialect dictionary of Lumbee English (item LOCK001).  They are now working on a museum exhibit and a documentary video; a popular and a scholarly book on Lumbee Vernacular English (LVE); and a school enrichment curriculum emphasizing the cultural value of LVE.
