In his first official meeting with the university's Board of Trustees, the new chancellor, Allen Meadors, told the group that enrollment in graduate programs is down 88 students. Total graduate enrollment is 250 students. He explained, “The only way to get the students is to go out and beat the bushes.” He wants to expand recruitment from its current 7 counties to 33 counties. He also discussed the university's plans to reorganize into separate schools and colleges, which will be aided by a $300,000 appropriation from the General Assembly.
