Larry Brooks, brother of the late Dexter Brooks (who was Robeson County's senior resident Superior Court judge), has donated $5,000 to establish a scholarship at UNC-Pembroke. He will also donate $1,000 annually for the next five years. The scholarship was named the Judge Dexter Brooks Endowed Memorial Scholarship. UNC-P Chancellor Allen C. Meadors has contributed to the scholarship fund; Brooks conducted his swearing-in ceremony on December 15, 1999.
