This article reports that Robeson County’s average SAT score rose from 849 in 2001 to 879 in 2002—an increase of 30 points, but still 119 points behind the state average. The larger increase was in the average math score, up 21 points. Superintendent Barry Harding attributes the increase to SAT improvement plans which were implemented in each school.
