Reports that students in the Public Schools of Robeson County, for the fifth year in a row, improved their average SAT scores. This year, 452 students (45.8% of the total) took the test. The average score was 870--with an average of 434 on the mathematics section and 436 on the verbal section. The 870 average score was 4 points higher than last year's and 34 points higher than 1995's. The state's average SAT score for 1999 was 986; the national average was 1,016.
