A recently released report from North Carolina's Division of Social Services showed a 7% increase, statewide, over the previous year in the number of reported cases of child abuse and neglect.  The report includes breakdowns by county.  For 1998-1999 (the year covered by the report), Robeson County ranked fifth highest in substantiated cases and seventh highest in reported cases.
