After reports that the Indians were stockpiling weapons, the Klan’s scheduled cross-burning at the site of the 1958 routing was forbidden by a Superior Court injunction. As a new approach, the Grand Dragon of the North Carolina Klan is offering membership to the Lumbees and plans a recruiting trip. The Klan wants to ally with the Indians and help them gain civil rights.
