BART007. Barton, Bruce. “Looking back while walking forward (column): 'Distinguished visitor, extraordinary application.” Carolina Indian Voice Thursday, February 10, 2000: 2.

Publication type: Newspaper article

Reprints a brief article from the Thursday, June 20, 1872 Robesonian describing Rhoda Lowry's visits with the sheriff and then the clerk of superior court (due to the absence of the county commissioner) to appeal for aid for her children. Her family's need was due to the death of her husband. The article, laced with sarcasm, was probably written by W. S. McDiarmid, then editor and publisher of the Robesonian.

Additional subjects: Rhoda Strong Lowry | Robesonian
