On the disappearance of Black gang member George Applewhite and his later “capture” by Hamilton, Georgia, businessmen Charles P. and George Nobles Murrah. After the Murrahs’ pamphlet (entry 1077) was published, Robeson County Sheriff McMillan met with the prisoner and proclaimed that they had captured the wrong man.
