Sympathetic, colorfully written account with art by Jim Bama. Emphasizes dog chases, jail breaks, and guns. Notes the “sirens of Scuffletown” who seduced federal soldiers to gain information for Lowry. Dunnagan was a UNC-Chapel Hill alumnus and Chapel Hill resident. He interviewed Henry Berry Lowry’s nephew, Billy Lowrey, for this article’s account of the outlaw’s escape to New Mexico.
