Category: 33. The Henry Berry Lowry period

1093. A Scotchman. “The Lowrie Gang: a portion of Col. Olds’ article false and misleading.” Robesonian 13 July 1908: 1.

Publication type: Newspaper article

Disagrees with Olds’ rationale (see entry 8, July 6) for Lowry’s lawlessness. States that Lowry, accused of stealing James Barnes’ hogs, shot Barnes from ambush. Barnes identified him before dying. Related article, Robesonian 13 July 1908: 2. H. L. Edens defends Olds (Robesonian 27 July 1908: 2) and urges temperance in judgement of Lowry; “that ... [he] has become a historic character none will doubt.”

Additional subjects: Barnes, James P. | Olds, F. A. (Frederick Augustus)
