    1082. “The Lowery Gang.” New York Times 4 May 1874: P. 2 col. 3.

Publication type: Newspaper article

Quotes two articles from the Robesonian. Bryan Oxendine, “brother-in-law of the late Henry B. Lowery,” shot and seriously wounded his wife on April 10 during an argument while the couple were dispensing whiskey for a customer. On April 16, James and Marcus Dial were gigging fish at a mill-dam near Scuffletown when they were fired on from ambush. James was seriously injured; the shot was fired from his own gun, which he had left on the bank.
