Announces the election of Donna Chavis (Pembroke)
as chairperson
of the Board of Directors of the Jesse Smith Noyes Foundation.
The foundation makes $4 million in grants each year to
grassroots
and community-based projects related to environmental
and
reproductive rights. Chavis, who founded Robeson County's
Center
of Community Action along with her husband Mac Legerton,
is the
executive director of an organization called Native Americans
in
Philanthropy (see PEAY001).
