Announces the 2001 Rockefeller Foundation Film, Video and Multimedia Fellowship awards. This program offers fourteen awards each year to independent media artists; it also “encourages diverse cultural perspectives and innovative forms of expression.” Lumbee filmmaker Malinda Maynor, who is completing a masters in history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, received a fellowship for her project, “Labors of Love: Lumbee Indian Art & Work,” which will “explore how Lumbee identity in rural and urban settings has been maintained and also has changed.”
