Woods has been a principal at various schools in the county; a Robeson County commissioner since 1990; chairperson of the county Board of Health since 1991; long-time member and, at times, committee chair or officer of the Pembroke Jaycees; a founder of the Riverside Country Club in Pembroke; a past member of the Board of Directors of the Robeson County Historical Drama; and a participant in numerous other service activities.
