Reports on the election of Glenn Maynor, a Democrat, as the first Indian sheriff in Robeson County.  Maynor received 57% of the vote, compared to Republican James Sanderson with 43%.  The previous sheriff, Hubert Stone, is retiring after 16 years in the position.  Maynor's previous positions include director of the Robeson County Housing Authority for 18 years; service on the Lumberton City Council; and service as Lumberton's first Indian parole officer. A chief concern of Maynor's is the county's drug problem.  He hopes to increase personnel on the county's drug task force, which includes only four officers.  He will also work to restore the public's trust in law enforcement.
