This article profiles Pocosin, a shop selling Native
American art that opened in December 2002 at 230 South Elm Street in
Greensboro, NC. The store is operated by the Guilford Native American
Association, which was established in 1975 and also operates an art
gallery and a day care center. The nonprofit association currently has
a $500,000 budget and recently hired Sandra LeCrone as its economic
development director. The Pocosin gift shop and the art gallery will
help the incomes of Native American artists in the area and will supplement
the funding available for he youth and senior citizens services
