This article explains that thirty-six tribes, tribal entities, or technical assistance providers have been awarded grants ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 from the federal Native American Community Development Financial Institute (CDFI) program. The Lumbee Tribe received $70,200.

The Native American CDFI Fund serves to start up, or augment existing, Native American Community Development Financial Institutes, whose purpose is to loan to or invest in underdeveloped communities.
