James A. Hunt, Tar Heel of the Week, is the state’s first Indian bank president. The Lumbee Bank is cited as the country’s first Indian-owned bank. Note: The Lumbee Bank was renamed Lumbee Guaranty Bank. It celebrated its 20th anniversary on 22 Dec. 1991 (see Robesonian 29 Dec. 1991: D1).
