Letter to the editor from a Tuscarora tribal member.  Some meetings at UNC-Pembroke, called “One Fire Meetings,” have been reported in news sources as dealing with federal recognition.  The meetings were called by former Tuscarora Tribe of North Carolina members and employees, not by the current tribal council.  Tribe members are asked to contact the tribal leaders with questions or for information about future meetings.
