Interview with Lumbee filmmaker Malinda Maynor about her
documentary, Real Indian (MAYN005). She affirms that making
the film gave her an opportunity to work out the Indian-identity
issue for herself.  She acknowledges that many Indians are hesitant to
discuss the film's central question, “Just what is an Indian,
anyway?” She was a bit apprehensive about having the film shown
at Sundance along with other Native American films because she
didn't know if it was “Indian enough.” She hopes the film will
“move people into my space, my definition of who we are as Native
people.”
