LUMB012. “Lumbee land swap decision delayed.” Fayetteville Observer June 4, 2004.

Publication type: Newspaper article

The Lumbee Tribal Council postponed its decision on whether to swap 12.01 acres of its land for 8 acres owned by the Town of Pembroke. The town wants to build a walking trail on the tribal land, rather than on the 8 acres it owns and originally designated for the trail, because the town’s land is considered too close to N. C. Highway 711 to be safe for walkers. The Tribal Council said it does not have the information it needs to make a decision. No date was set for another meeting at which to make the decision.

Additional Subjects: Land purchases
