Brief profile of Adolph Blue, who recently stepped down as chairperson of the LRDA Board. He was the Board's longest-serving chairperson (1989-2000) but will continue as a Board member serving Pembroke. Blue feels pleased and satisfied with LRDA's accomplishments during his chairmanship. His policy as chairman was always to tell tribal members the truth when he could not honor their requests. His only frustration was that, as the Board's only Republican, he was unable to convince the LRDA Board to trade off Republican votes in exchange for Republican support on federal recognition. Blue retired from UNC-P in 1990 after 25 years of work as assistant to the director of physical plant. He has been active with the Pembroke Lions Club and First United Methodist Church.
