In its March 24 meeting, the Tribal Council:

Established an economic development committee to help the
tribe pursue venture and grant projects; Daucey Brewington (District 18)
is chairperson.

Formed an ethics committee to write guidelines to govern
the conduct of council members, oversee advisory committee members, and
prevent conflict of interest. Rosa Winfree (District 16) is chairperson.

Discussed the tribal constitution. This committee met on
March 16 and March 19. They agreed that the previous work on drafting a
constitution will be used as a basis for the current work. Six public hearings
regarding the constitution have been scheduled, to begin on March 26.

Heard public comments from (a) Garth Locklear, urging that
the tribal constitution reflect the need for public safety of tribal members
and punishment of tribal members who commit felonies; (b) Ruth Locklear,
on how to distinguish tribal territory; and (c) Barbara Lowry, on the tribe's
needs regarding health care, energy assistance, and housing.
