Announces that Lumbee Regional Development Association
will, in February, establish a Federal Recognition Committee composed of
elected Indian leaders, tribe members from the Robeson County community,
and representatives of Lumbee people in urban areas outside Robeson County.
One task will be a major educational campaign concerning Lumbee federal
recognition. The committee will also look at administrative and legislative
options for federal recognition.
