Publication type: Newspaper article

Sara Murphy, 75, is one of three rootworkers practicing in Maxton. For 60 years, at her home on N.C. Highway 130, she has used herbs and roots to remove spells, cast benevolent spells, and treat physical ailments. One concoction she uses and gives to her clients is made in quantities of five cases per weekend. Miller interviewed one client who has been visiting Murphy regularly for 30 years. Murphy uses her powers only for healing, does not get involved in situations involving killing, and never divulges clients' confidences.
