Gives very favorable impressions of the latest CD by Jana, who has been singing for five years. Jana wrote the lyrics to all the songs on American Indian Story and includes them on the CD folder. She includes words from the Lumbee, Oneida, Navajo, and Lakota language in the songs. Biano praises Jana's powerful and compelling voice, her blending of pop, blues, and gospel styles, and the "throbbing beat and haunting melodies" of the songs.

Biano states: “Each song tells a continuing story. She sings of the land, the people, the spirit, and in such a way, that one is touched by the beauty and sincerity of it all. I was so enchanted with the CD, I left it in my player and listened to it over and over. I got so wrapped up in the music I didn't even realize when it began again. It didn't take long for me to be humming along with the music.”

Biano notes that American Indian Story has been nominated for a Grammy in the “Best Native American music” category. See the list of all nominees at http://www.grammy.com/GRAMMY_Awards/49th_show/list.aspx
and go to Category 69.
